Ystradgynlais is a market town situated in the Upper Tawe Valley . It has easy transport links to Swansea . Shops in Ystradgynlais close on Saturdays at 12 noon and some shops close on Tuesday afternoons. Ystradgynlais has good pavements for wheelchair users and there are many dropped kerbs.

There is one unisex accessible toilet in Station road. It is opened with a Radar Key. A key is kept in the Volunteer Centre if needed.
